Beginnings

You may remember the topic of Beginnings for the first week of Heads or Tails at Skittles Place. I just thought of another I should add:
The beginning of my personal weight loss challenge. I call it a challenge because anyone who has ever tried to lose any amount of weight knows it's a challenge. It is personal because I'm not "joining" one so to speak.

Because of new laws in SC stating how much physical activity students should get in school each week, our principal has brought in his personal trainer. We increased the time our students spend in PE each week last year (and that will continue this year), and we had students demonstrate/lead exercises on our morning news program each morning. This year, the trainer will demonstrate/lead exercises for our students. She will also be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school to work with teachers for FREE! I am soooo excited - I plan to MAKE time for myself and participate in this. I will have my fellow teachers aka friends there so we can cheer each other on and encourage each other. I also thought it would be a good idea to post on here so my blogging friends could encourage me, but I also know this way I'm held accountable! Maybe I'll also be inspiration to others out there like myself - it sure does inspire me when I see tickers at the tops of blogs showing how much weight my blogging friends have lost!!

I've been drinking more water and eating less this past week. I will continue with this, and exercise "class" starts Tuesday. I'll try to update on this topic at least once a week...

I love this post! I will encourage you, we all need encouragement! The biggest hurdle to get over for weight loss is in your own head. Trust me, I know. I'm going through the beginning stages of weight loss right now, and like you, I didn't 'join' anything. It can be done!
What is it that dr.s will say, how to lose weight? "Eat right and exercise." Ok, so why don't we do that? I tried it for a few weeks and I lost weight!
It doesn't have to be hard, you don't have to go hungry. Our bodies really do want us to eat less and be active. We need far less food daily, than we *think* we do. Most people don't even know what it's like for their bodies to even be actually hungry. Ope, it's noon, time to eat. Ope, it's 6 pm, time to eat. We really shouldn't do that. There are some very simple things you can do to right away begin to feel better, lose weight and get healthier:
1. Drink more water.
2. Eat less food per meal.
3. Stop eating at least 3 hours before going to bed.
4. Get active! Don't take that closest parking spot! Every step adds up.
5. Don't try to starve yourself.
6. If you have something sweet or whatever, so what? Just don't do it everyday - all day!
Don't beat yourself up about this! You have already made a decision that will only benefit your quality of life! It doesn't have to be this hard suffering type struggle. Just simply apply some of this reasoning to your life and before you know it, you will have lost weight and more importantly, gained health! I started at 333 and now I'm down to 319, although I haven't been quite as good about watching what I've been eating for the past couple weeks, but I'm back now! You have inspired me to show all my friends who have had gastric bypass that with the help of my friends to encourage me, watching what I eat, walking on my treadmill, I can lose weight and do it easily! The Dr.s say to do it this way and I really feel like if I do what I'm supposed to do, the Lord will certainly take care of the rest! Keep me informed!!!
